ADMISSION POLICY

Penfield Christian Home is a Christ centered ministry for reclaiming the lives of those suffering from addiction to drugs and alcohol. We teach them to apply, through the power of Jesus Christ, Biblical principles as expressed in the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. We refer to them as the Twelve Steps for Successful Christian Living.

A. PROGRAM CRITERIA

    1. Prior to arrival at Penfield Christian Home, client must be interviewed by program staff and agree to participate in all parts of the program for the entire six weeks. During this interview, client will be briefed as to the nature of the program as outlined in the "Client & Family Orientation" section and the interviewer will complete the screening form.
    2. All pending legal issues need to be resolved prior to admission or postponed until client is discharged. Failure to take care of legal issues may result in discharge for non-compliance.
    3. Client should have his Pastor or some other member of his home church committed to praying for him while he is at PCH. His home church should also be involved in follow up care given to client.

    D. THE ADMISSION PROCESS

Please understand the importance of complying with our admission requirements as soon as possible. A client MUST be approved for admission before he will be scheduled to enter the program. We usually maintain a waiting list for entrance into our program, early compliance will place you higher on that list. While there is usually not more than a two week wait for admission, you MUST meet all the admission requirements BEFORE you will be added to the list.

There are four primary components to the admission process:

    Here's how the process goes:

The first step is for you to complete a telephone interview with a screening counselor here. After you read over the information presented here carefully and thoroughly, call us to be interviewed.

The interview usually takes 20-30 minutes. During this screening interview the counselor will collect your addiction history, family history, medical history, and other information. The program requirements will be explained to you in detail, and any questions about the program you may have will be answered as well. In addition, financial arrangements must be made prior to admission, so please discuss this with your screening counselor.

Screening times are as follows:    (Eastern Standard Time)

    Monday-Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The second step is to provide us with all requested medical clearances discussed during the screening interview. You may download this form to take to your doctor. These clearances are typically faxed to our office at 1-888-785-0613. Once these things have been completed and the staff approves you for admission, they will assign an admission date and reserve a bed for you.

Once the screening process begins you will need to begin AA attendance daily until you are admitted, and your family members should begin attending Al-Anon meetings. The Georgia AA website has listings of meetings across the state. You can get it here. Once you are approved and have a bed assignment, you may start to gather the things you will need to bring with you upon admittance. The printable list is here.

We will not know when a client can enter our
program until he has been fully approved for admission.

The sooner a client is approved, the sooner he can be admitted.
